PANGAIA, a pioneer in sustainable fashion, launches some autumn-friendly staples

Building on a range of evergreen favourites, the label’s latest offerings will form your cold-season armour

Even though it launched just half a decade ago, PANGAIA is one of the lodestars driving the sustainable-fashion scene, its minimally embellished clothing defined by blocky-colour palettes, a green spirit, and a heavy use of science-driven next-gen materials. ‘PANGAIA’s goal is to design an Earth-positive business model where our products are better for the planet than if they did not exist… We are here to give back more than we take,’ states the company. The overall aim, put simply, is for each of the venture’s products – made by technologists, scientists and designers whose outlooks all align and work towards building a ripe portfolio of boundary-moving trademarks and patents – to solve an environmental problem for the industry.

Ranging from cotton hoodies to track pants, all designed in nature-inspired tones, the range of wears centres around three core pillars: Leisure, Outdoor and Active.

Belonging to the former is the PANGAIA 365 Hoodie and Sweatshirt, both produced for maximum comfort – we quite like the feel of the 420 GSM heavyweight cotton – and treated with natural peppermint oil to create an anti-odour quality.

Within the Outdoor department, which comprises jackets of many styles, overshirts, and trenches, a durable, technical aesthetic is paired with envelope-pushing materials: FLWRDWN™, for example, is a breakthrough down fabric that’s formulated from wild flowers to lock in extra warmth.

The activewear – there are Long Sleeve Half-Zip Tops and Compressive Leggings, all ideal for wearing on countryside runs or taking to the gym – is also driven by innovation, with the materials consisting of a part-plant-based stretch fabric and also featuring a peppermint oil treatment to ensure each workout is kept in check. Ultimately, this particular range relies on petroleum-based materials far less than its counterparts on the market do.

With the colder season on the doorstep, now is the time to start fixing together an assortment of foundation pieces – namely knitwear – in which to layer up during the months ahead.

To date, we’ve had a particular soft spot for PANGAIA’s pieces that make use of Regenerative Merino Wool, a material made via agricultural practices that restore and uphold healthy ecosystems – one key aspect, for example, is the requirement that the farmers who look after the land on which the sheep are raised use techniques such as rotational grazing.

The Regenerative Merino Wool Sweater is a contemporary menswear essential, with its ribbed cuffs and hem and oversized silhouette, and the Turtleneck Sweater offers just a tad more protection from the breeze up top.

Most recently, the label has released a new earthy, autumnal colour palette – Moss Green and Ecru Ivory among the options – into its DNA Recycled Cashmere Collection, a range that is made of evergreen wardrobe must-haves made from repurposed pre- and post-consumer garments, with each final piece executed in a mix of 95 per cent recycled cashmere and 5 per cent recycled wool.

Within the launch is a trio of new styles, including a boxy unisex hoodie with drop sleeves and available in both zip-up and pullover options. Moreover, perennial favourites within the collection – namely the Polo Sweater – have been updated with the new colour scheme.

A scarf and beanie provide the entire look with the final touches – and supply you with the perfect armour in which to brave the autumn breeze.
