Why has no-one ever really praised the Skyfall workout gear?

For cold-weather training, take inspiration from this royal-blue winner

Skyfall, the Bond film frequently hailed as one of the greatest in the franchise, has some pretty spectacular style moments. There’s the midnight-blue tuxedo that 007 wears in Macau, an ensemble that launched a thousand facsimiles in the party season of 2012. The Barbour sports jacket during the final action sequences has become stuff of outerwear legend. And we will never, ever forget Daniel Craig’s cuff-check during the Caterpillar excavator set-play.

One sartorial moment that seems to have been buried among the rubble of MI6 HQ, however, is that of Bond’s return from the dead. Having been shot on duty, and thus presumed killed, the superspy goes into a secret retirement, only to return months later following an attack on London. As part of his reintroduction to the field of duty, he undergoes a set of physical, shooting and mental examinations – and this is when we see one of the most under-the-radar Bond outfits in the series: his royal-blue SIS training gear.

Unlike the tactical stuff that Craig sports in No Time To Die, the Skyfall trainingwear has a soft edge about it, as it comprises a track jacket credited to Puma – complete with a zip-front and a classy MI6 insignia on the left breast – a long-sleeve crewneck T-shirt and trousers (though not explicitly attributed to Puma, we can take an educated guess that the label was involved with these pieces), and Adidas Gazelles. When kitted out in this sleek ensemble, Craig’s Bond is made to run on a treadmill, do a few sit-ups and pull-ups, prove his shooting ability, and is subject to psychoanalysis.

Though you likely won’t be off chasing Raoul Silva and co. during the coming winter, that shouldn’t stop you from taking influence from this subtle stroke of activewear brilliance – so, below, we’ve ushered you towards a few items that’ll help up your workout game to secret-agent heights…
