Slowear is betting big on tailoring 2.0

Slowear returns to its sartorial heritage with its Autumn/Winter 2024 Modern Tailoring collection

The idea for Italian lifestyle brand Slowear was born to the Venetian brothers Roberto and Marzio Compagno, who are the second generation members of Incotex. And while Incotex was started as a tailoring business in 1951, specialising in smart trousers, Slowear, which is now the big parent company and works to an umbrella brand sensibility, shifted this direction a little, creating more lax pieces ideal for everyday, across its four subsidiary brands.

But for Autumn/Winter 2024, Slowear is nodding to its roots. For the upcoming season, the Italian business has made a return to its sartorial heritage and is focusing on clothes developed around contemporary shapes and iconic menswear designs, all under a new model named simply "Modern Tailoring."

It's a binding together of Slowear's four brands - Incotex, Montedoro, Zanone and Glanshirt - under one shared vision. The collection mimics the evolution of the men’s wardrobe, balancing the brand’s classic slim and tapered fits with an increasing emphasis on comfort. Slowear will also move to only use neutral tone-on-tone combinations enriched by brick red, forest green, and mustard. The New Autumn/Winter '24 collection from the Slowear Group brands should take you from "business to casual to leisure", as stated in a press release. Meanwhile, the fabrics, from luxurious wools and fine yarns, used across the four brands will allow Slowear to stand out for its commitment to natural materials.

But while the entirety of the brands' collections now fall under one larger umbrella, each division will still have their own identity. It's with the Incotex brand that tailoring is most evident. Known as being the "best pants in the world" brand, Incotex continues its exploration into suiting. Wider fits will sit alongside the more classic slim silhouettes, across suiting in Prince of Wales checks and other traditional patterns.

Zanone, known best for its knitwear collection, expands to include outerwear and knit blazers, which are a first for the brand. Meanwhile Montedoro continues to offer a mix of performance and style, introducing the Franchigia model—a modern reinterpretation of the field jacket - which sits alongside tailored parkas.

In its entirety, it's a collection that nods to the modernisation of the male wardrobe. Less about sharp suits and fitted trousers, and more about comfort and ease, but still taking into account the plus sides of good tailoring.
